What kind of machinery do you need for MTB trail building?
Compact equipment is used for trail construction, capable of operating in narrow, steep terrain: mini excavators or small utility vehicles for route alignment and rough work, along with a compact rock and forestry mulcher that crushes, mixes, and redistributes rocks, roots, and soil in a single pass.

What is the difference between hydraulic and PTO trail crushers?
The hydraulic version is powered by a carrier vehicle's hydraulic system and is particularly well-suited for narrow, hard-to-reach trails. The PTO version is powered in the traditional way by a tractor’s power take-off (PTO) and is ideal for longer stretches on forest and alpine trails.
Which variant is more suitable for my fleet?
If you have a high-performance carrier vehicle with sufficient hydraulic power, the hydraulic version is usually recommended. If you have a suitable tractor available, the PTO version is often the more economical solution. PTH Products can help you make the right choice.
Can I use both variants with the same trails?
In general, both options can be used for trail construction and maintenance. The differences lie primarily in the type of carrier vehicle, off-road maneuverability, and cost-effectiveness during operation.

Is the Trail Crusher available with PTO and hydraulic drive?
Yes, the Trail Crusher is available as a PTO version (PTO shaft 540 rpm, KAT 1, 30-75 hp) and as a hydraulic version (from 75 l/min, 300 bar) for skid steer loaders and tracked carriers.
How wide and deep does the Trail Crusher work?
The working width is 900-1,400 mm (PTO) or 1,150-1,400 mm (hydraulic). The maximum working depth is 150 mm - sufficient for the preparation of road surfaces and base layers.
Can the Trail Crusher also break stones?
Yes, the Trail Crusher crushes stones, mills surfaces and mulches in a single pass. It is suitable for preparing stony ground to create passable trail surfaces.
